Carob   (also  called  St  John’s  Bread,  Harup,  Harnup)  is  a  wonderful,  higly nutritious,  non-allergenic,  virtually fat free  legume  containing  many  minerals  & vitamins.  It is little known  outside  the  Mediterranean  where it is quite  common.

 

Top class  restaurants  use  it  as  cocoa/chocolate  substitute  (and/or  mixed)  because of its  health  benefits  to  their  wealthy  older  customers’   low-fat  diets.
